| Cape & Islands Self Reliance New Combustion Safety CourseDue to overwhelming response to our December 19th Combustion Safety Training, we are happy to offer an additional training on December 28th.This course is approved for 1 unit of continue education for those BPI certified.
Training & test
The course will follow the Building Performance Institute’s (BPI) Standards including setting up the house, establishing worst case conditions and working with multiple combustion appliance zones (CAZ). This course does not provide national certification, but BPI Continuing Education Credits will be available.
It is intended for contractors who participate in the Mass Save Home Energy Services Program and attended Weatherization Boot Camp but require Combustion Safety training to comply with the program credential requirements effective October 1, 2011. The list price of the training is $200. A $150 subsidy is provided for WAP contractors who hold Advanced Air Sealing and/or Advanced Insulation authorizations and successfully pass the combustion safety exam. Please keep in mind that only two employees per company are eligible, so please do not sign up if any of your employees/coworkers have been to other Combustion Safety trainings around the state.
Combustion Safety Testing Objectives
- Mission of Combustion Safety Testing;
- Understand the system relationship of conditioning the air in the house;
- Understand the principles of the combustion process;
- Appreciate “safety first” and apply that criteria to gas and oil systems;
- Recognize the NFPA venting categories;
- Conduct a combustion safety test and interpret results
Pre-registration is required! Attendance is limited to 6 participants per session.
